Denby Dale First & Nursery School

Welcome To Our Year 4 Class Page!

As we move into the beginning of our summer term we will be focusing on the topic of 'Animals Including Humans' in Science. This is a really interesting topic which will cover areas such as the human digestive system, teeth and their functions and even how muscles make the body move. We will be taking part in lots investigations and tasks to really help with our learning.

In Maths we will be continuing to develop our understanding of decimals before moving on to money, time, statistics and shapes. Lots of really exciting maths topics!

TT Rockstars - We aim to complete our challenges 3 times per week in order to improve the speed and accuracy of our times tables.

Pupils are encouraged to access the TT Rockstars website from home in order to further support their progress in this area. (TT Rockstars login details can be found in the back of your child's homework book.)

Our History topic moving into the summer term is a local history study of our area, Denby Dale which actually used to be known as Denby Dyke. We will be taking part in some amazing local history walks and learning all about the history of our lovely area!

CLASS 4 WEEKLY HOMEWORK:

Here are some pictures from our D&T project that we worked on during last half term. Our brief was to design, make and test an Anderson Shelter that can withstand KG of weight, fit a small Lego man inside AND be waterproof! They ALL turned out amazing and met the design brief!

Here is our exciting curriculum:

Class 4 have recently been expanding our knowledge and understanding of computing by taking part in a research topic. Each pair of children were tasked with carrying out internet research on a given country and then creating and presenting a detailed PowerPoint presentation on their topic. We had amazing colour, fonts, transitions and animations in all of the PowerPoints. We even managed to include sound effects!

Here are some pictures of some of the brilliant presentations:

Our class book this term is:

In Class 4 We Are Special!

In PSHE we discussed what makes us special. We each wrote our special qualities on a piece of paper and linked them all together to create this 'Special Chain'!

Some of the students in Class 4 have taken inspiration from our D&T project last half term (which is to design, make and test an Anderson Shelter) by creating their own Anderson Shelter in the playground during break. We think it looks amazing, what do you think?
