Forest school

Forest Schools originated in Denmark, and have been an integral part of Early Years Education there since the 1980s. Forest school aims to provide young children with an education which encourages appreciation of the wide, natural world and which will encourage responsibility for nature conservation in later life. Using the outdoor environment, children are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence and self-esteem through succeeding in small achievable tasks.

We offer our children a range of forest school experiences.  Children can develop their den building skills in our woodland area, build habitats and become involved in natural craft creations.  We also act out stories, e.g. “The Bear Hunt”.

The activities are carried out in our school grounds and we also use Wither Woods for seasonal flora and fauna hunts.
